Switchable Polymerization Catalysis Using a Tin(II) Catalyst and Commercial Monomers to Toughen Poly(<scp>l</scp>-lactide)

چکیده

Sustainable plastics sourced without virgin petrochemicals, that are easily recyclable and with potential for degradation at end of life, urgently needed. Here, copolymersand blends meeting these criteria efficiently prepared using a single catalyst existing commercial monomers l-lactide, propylene oxide, maleic anhydride. The selective, one-reactor polymerization applies an industry-relevant tin(II) catalyst. Tapered, miscible block polyesters formed alkene groups which postfunctionalized to modulate the polymer glass transition temperature. polymers blended desirable low weight fractions (2 wt %) poly(l-lactide) (PLLA), increasing toughness, elongation break compromising elastic modulus, tensile strength, or thermal properties. selective catalysis, catalyst, provides straightforward means improve bioplastics performances.

Switchable supramolecular catalysis using DNA-templated scaffolds.

Switchable β-cyclodextrin (β-CD)-induced hydrolysis of m-tert-butylphenyl acetate is demonstrated in the presence of supramolecular β-CD/adamantane oligonucleotide scaffolds. In one system, a duplex between a β-CD-functionalized nucleic acid and an adamantane-nucleic acid leads to a switchable catalytic system. In a second system, a β-CD/adamantane duplex is cooperatively generated by K(+)-stab...

A highly active and site selective indium catalyst for lactide polymerization.

Chiral indium salen complexes are highly active, isoselective catalysts for the ring opening polymerization of racemic lactide. The polymerizations are well controlled and polymers with high molecular weights and low molecular weight distributions are obtained. Preliminary kinetic investigations with the enantiopure complex confirm enantiomorphic site control as the dominant contributor to sele...

Commercial Perspective on New Developments in Catalysis for Olefin Polymerization

Olefin polymerization catalysis is a domain of major research activity. For the last decade, much of this research has been focused in the area of metallocene catalysis, which has been at the front line in driving important technology renewal in the polyolefins industry. Developments in metallocene catalysis have instigated much trade press discussion, and now emerging nonmetallocene catalyst s...

Group 4 metal initiators for the controlled stereoselective polymerization of lactide monomers.

Group 4 metal initiators with a tetradentate bis(phenolato) ligand polymerized meso-lactide efficiently under ring-opening to give syndiotactic polylactide. L-Lactide was converted faster than rac-lactide and meso-lactide.

A highly active zinc catalyst for the controlled polymerization of lactide.

We report the preparation, structural characterization, and detailed lactide polymerization behavior of a new Zn(II) alkoxide complex, (L(1)ZnOEt)(2) (L(1) = 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-{[(2'-dimethylaminoethyl)methylamino]methyl}phenolate). While an X-ray crystal structure revealed the complex to be dimeric in the solid state, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometric analyses showed that the ...
